Patinam is a Collection of Handmade Jewelry by Sayuri that is inspired by the sights, sounds, culture, and the people of Chennai. It is Chennai as seen through the eyes of a student who moves to the city and is enamoured by both its past and present. It is an attempt to look holistically at the city which is a potpourri of various cultures through the medium that is jewellery. Made up of necklaces, bangles, and earrings, this mixed media collection attempts to portray the resplendence of Chennai in the form of wearable art.
Patinam in its second edition focuses on the Margazhi Mahotsava at Chennai – the Creative City. Margazhi Mahotsava is a month long celebration of Music, dance, art, and food as devotion to God. To help you style yourself for various kutcheris, Sabha and Gallery sprees – we have a range of Margazhi inspired pieces. Kolam jewelry, Kalamkari pieces and Andal and thiruppavai inspired pieces are sure to make you stand out in the crowd this Margazhi.
This is a mixed media collection that is priced between Rs. 500 – Rs.2800 + shipping. Earrings are complimentary with most necklaces even if they are not visible in the photographs. This is a fantastic collection, Divya! Colors and textures in an organic symbiosis! I can’t imagine how much work and designing has gone into these pieces. What a wonderful idea to celebrate your city in such an unforgettable way! Just some of my favorites – the beach inspired necklace, the chintz necklace and the necklace with the Mahabalipuram Temple pendant but it was so difficult to choose! Congratulations!!!
Thanks Rozantia – yes it was one of the toughest collections that I have done til date. That too in just 3 weeks time while having a full time job that included teaching 6 hours everyday. I plan to blog about each of the pieces, so you’ll get to know more about each of them
