I haven’t posted a lot of jewellery on the blog recently. Hence this post which is a mash up of two challenge reveals – the AJE challenge and Honey Do list for July. If you have been following me on Instagram or Facebook, then you would have seen my latest copper jewellery collection – Thamara by Sayuri. I will do a separate post discussing the ideology behind the collection. But in this post, let me show you a few pieces of Textured Copper jewellery, that are a part of the collection and fit better with the two themes of this reveal.

Textured Copper jewellery – Honey Do Challenge
Sarajo Wentling organises monthly challenges where her husband Eric gives her an inspiration picture to work with. It is called the Honey Do List challenge and is a colourful one with flowers on a stone wall next to a grassy meadow. For my pieces I picked up the colours – pink and green, the textures of the stone and moss. I consciously avoided using flowers for this challenge and wanted an abstract representation.
Lichen moss Earrings
Hammered copper bark earrings with patina inks, hand made hook and wire wrapped tiger eye beads. Earrings are long, lightweight and for Sale.
Textured Copper jewellery set
While the inspiration image looks harsh due to the lighting, the setting is infact dreamy. Not wanting to tamper with it too much, I created a a simple Textured Copper jewellery set. This is one of the two necklaces in this collection. I used a semicircle – half moon shape for the pendant and earrings. There are hammered, oxidised and sealed for your wearing pleasure. I love how the richness of the copper pairs well with the deep pink of the agate drop and dark green of the glass teardrops.
While the agate drop in the set is pink, the rounds are more radiant orchid – purple than pink. the necklace is adjustable with a cord closure. As in the previous pair, these earrings too are long. The Textured Copper jewellery set is for Sale.
AJE July Challenge – Hollow
Art Jewelry elements Monthly Theme for July 2020 is Hollow. Marsha Neal posted this image of a tree trunk as the inspiration image in an attempt to get us thinking. The idea was to work with or around “Objects that create negative space, draws you in, lets your imagination take over.” I was bewildered by the theme and contemplated all sorts of objects, including those with a 3D pen. None of them came to fruition.
Then I thought the most common hollow form in my house stacked up for recycling – cardboard boxes. While we give away flimsier boxes for to the recycling guy, the stronger corrugated or embossed ones are used for storage or shipping at times.
Embossed copper earrings
Both these earrings are copper tipped with gold leafing. There are embossed with a texture pattern and suspended from handmade hooks and copper links. The beads on the triangular earrings are enhanced carnelian beads. Both earrings are for sale.
Sorry for the bad pictures, I took them before final cleaning and polishing after which all the spots went away. I am waiting for the quarantine period to end to go to the terrace and take better pictures.
I hope you found it interesting
Cheers

Hi Divya,
Wanted to introduce you to Finaura, our gold jewellery finder app. The idea is to create an app/service that will bring all the gold and precious jewellery designs from across the world in one place. Help them find the designs they want and buy online or from the store near them. We are starting with Indian jewellery. As jewellery desinger and fashion blogger, your thoughts and opinion would help in making the app useful to all the users of the app. So it would be a great help if you can check it out and share your thoughts.
Thanks, I will check it out
You can’t even go to the terrace? That’s tough! The textured metal pieces are very elegant and funky at the same time and I’m liking this collection very much. Inventive interpretation of the “hollow” theme!
Ya, frustrating times – we contracted Covid. so life has pretty much been hell. I started to write about it and then deleted it as it sounded too whiny and sad.
Really good work this month! My favorite are the first pair of earrings with the subtle color stripes to tie the green and the fuscia together. Thanks for playing along in the challenge!
Thanks Eric, it was an interesting and lively inspiration to work on.
Lovely interpretations. Textured and patinated copper is one of my favorite things in jewelry and you have showcased it to magnificent effect in your designs. The cardboard box idea was truly inspired. I hope all is back to wellness in your home soon.
Thanks Tammy, we are hopefully and slowly getting better. Yes, The theme was quite a googly. I kept staring at all the boxes that we get from online stores to recycle and it struck me.
I’m enjoying your copper jewelry very much. In these challenges, I especially love the first pair of earrings with the lovely patinas you’ve gotten on the metal. Perfect reflections of the inspiration. And for the hollow challenge, I think the photo of the triangle earrings makes the black stripe look like negative “hollow” space! Beautiful.
That is an interesting observation Ann. Thanks for sharing.
Sorry to be hopping so very late this time… time has just been getting away from me. I really love what you did for the Honey Do List this time! I especially love the first earrings… great work with the patinas! I love the bright pops of fuchsia with the hammered copper in you set. Thanks for joining us this month!!
Thanks for hosting the hop and the chance to play along.
I’m SO far behind on my blog reading and am somehow missing everyone’s reveals. I hope you don’t mind, I’m sorry!
Your copper pieces are really dreamy. You make me want to pull out the copper and alter some myself. You really did these challenges justice!
Thanks. I am so behind on my blog writing so I completely understand.
