I took my own advice on creating Jewellery for sales and made a slew of necklaces. While I followed most of the rules, I gave up and bought new beads. Still, I sold two of the three beaded necklaces that I made. I hope that justifies the bead shopping.
Suryagandha necklace
When I saw these green and red beads with streaks of gold in them, I had to buy them. I knew straightaway that I could put them in a simple yet gorgeous necklace. They go spectacularly well with a pendant that I painted with patina inks and enamel paints. Since the necklace is full of glass beads and a heavy pendant, I used light paper machie beads and crystals as accents.
Suryagandha refers to a sunflower and as the pendant has a partial sunflower on it, I call this necklace Suryagandha. This necklace is sold.
Knotted bead necklace
This is a simple but Chic necklace of glass beads in browns and copper. The golden disc pendant is a subtle gold and goes really well with the coppers in the necklace. When I first made it, It was meant for me and as such I kept the pendant detachable. I used a gunmetal clasp for it as I just wanted a big clasp. I also made a silver jump ring chain as the extender. But the moment I posted the image on my social media, there were several enquiries. It made me re-think the piece.
I wired the pendant permanently to the necklace and changed the rings and the claps to antique bronze before I finally sold it as a surprise birthday present. It is quite a story actually. A mom, knowing that her daughter is a regular client of mine, wanted to buy her my jewellery as her birthday gift. She picked up a set but was not sure if her daughter would like it. But then, at the same time, the daughter contacted me asking for the above piece. To surprise her on her Birthday, I told the daughter that the piece is sold and gave it to her mother to give it to her on her birthday. Sneaky one, aren’t I? I really hope that it was a good surprise.
Blue Leaf and Glass
This necklace started with an altered leaf pendant. As usual, I used Vintaj patinas and acrylic paints after some fold forming on the metal component. I followed a variation of this tutorial – Statement metal leaf necklace and played with lesser colours. The necklace is one of mixed beads. While I have primarily used India glass beads, I have also used sea glass beads to make the necklace. This necklace with earrings is for sale.
These are the three new beaded necklaces that I made. I have been busy with work and prepping for a trip lately. Sayuri will be closed for the next two weeks. Unfortunately, that means a little downtime for the blog as well (as you might have noticed lately). But rest assured, I will continue to write and post as much as possible, whenever I can.
I hope you find it interesting
Cheers
