Little birdy house project

Remember my last two posts on rose garden color palette and getting over a writer’s/beader’s block posts? Well, in them I had talked of how I was trying out lots of new things, coming out on my comfort zone to get over my block.  I have been wanting to do an APTNU (absolutely pretty though not usable) art/craft for a a very long time. I have always looked at crafters who produce beautiful works of art with roses and pearls and lace which are purely decorative and have been aching to do something similar

So When I got my swag bag from CHA and found these adorable chipwood birdhouse panels, I just knew what I wanted to do – A Decorated Birdhouse. Being Inspired by my rose garden post where I talked about how it was indeed possible to induce Vintage romance in urban spaces, by thinking out of the box. I thought of literally decorating “out of the chip wood box” to create an all seasons birdhouse meant for indoor spaces – Little birdy house.

After painting it to resemble a brick house, I drew leaves and trellis and decorated it with hand cut, hand painted roses, leaves and stuck bits of ornate paper to resemble windows. I used white lace ribbon for awnings and to resemble curtains. I added pearls and ribbons to make it cuter (that’s me coming out of my comfort zone :))

My mom wasnt happy that I closed the peephole, but I dreaded it becoming dusty and hence covered it and painted a little dove/sparrow instead.Vintage romance is indeed possible in urban spaces, you might have to simplify or think out of the box, but it indeed is possible. – See more at: https://jewelsofsayuri.com/2014/02/free-color-palette-rose-garden.html#sthash.HWa3wQDL.dpuf

As a final touch to my little birdy houseI added the words dream and believe – Two things that will get you through hard trying times.
Materials used:  Chipwood birdhouse, folk art paints, mod podge and podgeable papers all from Plaid.

So What does the little birdy do in that all season – Little birdy house??  You guessed it right!! She makes jewelry and here is her first piece- the spring Bling necklace – made from yarn bits, shiny blingy beads and glitter thats shes been collecting 😀

Materials used:  Lion Brand yarn, Ice resin, glitter, beads and bezels.
The Spring bling necklace that combines crochet, resin and glitter has been submitted for the best blogger 2014 contest
