Every Color has a story – My Hibiscus

July, in my opinion sets the tone for the season of color that follows it. It when the trees and plants are in full bloom (due to the reduction of heat) and there is color all around. Also if you take a look at all the jewelry and craft supply websites you would see that they are all promoting a full color palette filled with brights, neons and complimentary colors. So without further ado lets jump in to the color palette of this month – which in my opinion is strong enough to make a statement with its lovely complementary colors and still can be used to create something that’s subtle and classy.

So what are these complementary colors I am talking about? As the name suggests they are colors that compliment one another by being a direct contrast or opposite. these colors when combined in the right proportions, produce a neutral color. They can be found on directly opposite to one another on a color wheel – example – red & green, Blue and orange, Yellow and violet. When placed next to each other, they create the strongest contrast and reinforce each other.
Here in this palette I have used complementary colors such as pink and green (Pink is a tint of red so it gets paired with a shade of green). To complete the palette I have chosen a dark pink and yellow and a neutral – gray to compliment them.
Complementary colors are best observed in nature and it is the most used color harmony in art and design

Someone asked me why I limit my palettes to 6 colors or less when they see the internet filled with palettes that list every shade/tint of every color that can be derived from an image.I guess it just design school practise where we dont show more than 6 colors on the color board.

I hope you find it interesting
Cheers
