Rajasthan, though a desert land is referred to as the land of colors, so what better inspiration Than the state and its two distinctive color palettes for this season. The first one is a desert – safari palette called Memories for they stir fond memories of the time my mom and I spent together on our trip in Mt.Abu.
Abu is the land of beautiful Dilwara temples, Nakki lake and fort Achalgad – which turned out to be an old abandoned fort with temples at the mountain peak and a surprisingly good market for semi precious cabochons. Though the climb to the fort’s peak was tough with the sun showing no mercy on us, the ruins were beautiful. Rooms high up in the sky, with the clouds almost touching us, Stone walls, creaking doors, grassy moss growing out of cracks – it was a dreamy place. So I would say that these colors have been scripted out by hills, forests, castles and fond memories of the era gone by.

This second Palette – Color Play is representative of not just Rajasthan’s splendor but also showcases India’s festive flavor. September, October and November are the most colorful months in India, for most of our festivals come in this period – Ganesh Chaturthi, Janmastami, Navaratri, Bakrid, Diwali and Karthigai. People are decked up in colorful ethnic clothes; houses, streets and stores are decorated. There is good food everywhere, crackers, performance; the air is almost feverish with celebration.
Keeping in tune with the celebration around me, this palette showcases bright colors like Red, green, yellow , blue and a neutral brown for balance
