Dhathu – Metal Collection

Finally, I am done with my Metal collection – Dhathu and all ready to launch it. To begin with here is the promo poster…
Its my color, mood, and inspiration board for the collection. This collection boasts of many first for me – working with Patina inks being the foremost. I have worked with sheet metal before, but this was the first time I worked with Brass sheet metal. When I began researching for this collection  I wanted it to be a a line of jewelry that was unique, totally new and completely handmade. But As most of you, my hand problems prevented me from proceeding. But I didnt want to give up. So I divided the collection into 2 parts – one with hand made components(fabricated by me) and one with machine made components, both exciting nonetheless. The result is a new, incredibly Indian indigenous collection that’s been made by exploring a lot of western techniques that even Vintaj wouldnt have thought of.

This journey that began three months ago has been incredibly hard and everytime I started working on it, I fell sick. I learnt a lot about people – myself and others in the process. I cant begin to thank my Mom who sat beside me and helped me finish a lot of the pieces and my students Divya and Niharika for modeling for me. Thanks is all I can say at this moment 🙂

Will post the pics of the entire collection, their descriptions and my favourites, all for your critique soon. Stay Tuned in the meanwhile!!
I hope you find it interesting
Cheers
