How diamonds are formed

Diamond is 99.95 percent carbon. The other 0.05 percent can include one or more trace elements, atoms that aren’t part of a diamond’s essential chemistry. Some of them can influence its color or shape.

Why Diamonds are a girl’s best friend

A diamond is a gemstone, that is on the wishlist of brides all over the world irrespective of their religion, caste, or region. In my community, diamond earrings or studs are a must for the bride. A woman who does not own them is pitied by society and commands no respect even today. In 1477, when the Archduke of Austria gave a diamond ring to Mary of Burgundy, he started the tradition of a diamond engagement ring. From a practical point of view, a diamond engagement ring is a promise of not just love but financial stability. It is a tangible asset that not only makes the wearer feel beautiful but also can be pawned/sold in times of need. When an engagement or marriage falls apart, the emotional value reduces, however the financial value of the diamond remains. That is why Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.

Synthetic/ Lab grown and Imitation diamonds

A  Lab grown or synthetic diamond is a diamond. Essentially, it has the same chemical composition, crystal structure, and properties as its natural counterpart. Synthetic diamonds are extensively used for industrial purposes and in jewellery for ethical reasons. However, they are not on par with diamonds when it comes to resale value. Diamond stimulants are non-diamond materials that are used to simulate the appearance of a diamond. They can be natural gemstone substitutes such as zircon, white spinel, Moissanite or man made such as Cubic Zirconia (American/Artifical Diamond) and Diamante.

Caring for your Diamonds

Diamonds are hard but they aren’t indestructible. They can be chipped and scratched easily. Chlorine bleach, harsh chemicals discolors diamonds and damages the mounting. Hand lotions, hair styling products and everyday grime all leave enough of a film on your diamonds. Above all, do not wear them (esp. diamond rings) while doing household chores. You must clean your diamond jewellery at regular intervals using mild liquid soap and water.

Take good care of your diamonds and they will be a girl’s best friend forever.

I hope that you find it interesting

Cheers
