Brooches at Oscars 2026

Brooches, which were once relegated to the margins of formal wear have now reclaimed the spotlight. Flying past earrings and necklaces, brooches have become the trendiest jewellery category for 2026. This was evident at the 98th Academy Awards, held on March 15, 2026. On a red carpet traditionally dominated by women’s jewellery, brooches worn by men emerged as a powerful accessory blending craftsmanship, style and fashion. Brooches at Oscars 2026. At the Oscars this year, brooches didn’t just complement outfits, they anchored them. Unlike other pieces of jewellery, brooches align perfectly with the current emphasis on storytelling in fashion. They are easy to wear on jackets yet are potent carriers of symbolism, craftsmanship, and personal narrative.

Adrien Brody made a striking statement a brooch from the “Ulysses” series madeby Elsa Jin, Made of titanium, a 20 ct sapphire, and 1279 diamonds, the brooch showed how beauty can come from merging industrial materiality with fine jewelry aesthetics. Meanwhile, Law Roach delivered a masterclass in maximalism with an Art Deco-inspired Swadesh diamond and ruby brooch. Wearing it with the Alexander McQueen jacket and short hair (which suits him so much more than long hair) he knew exactly how to push contemporary red carpet theatrics.

Shaboozey brought vintage appeal through a Briony Raymond diamond brooch, reinforcing the cyclical nature of jewellery trends and the value of archival pieces. In contrast, Pedro Pascal embraced bold branding with a large, custom-made white brooch by Chanel, demonstrating how heritage houses are re-engaging with male adornment.

Revival or re-contextualisation?

Historically, men’s brooches in the West trace back to ancient civilizations where fibulae functioned as both fasteners and symbols of status. In medieval Europe, jeweled clasps signified rank and allegiance.  In the 18th and 19th centuries, aristocratic men wore brooches as markers of refinement. However, the 20th century saw a decline in their use within menswear, as minimalism and rigid gendered fashion norms took hold.

What we are witnessing now is not just a revival, but a re-contextualization. Oscars 2026 showcases brooches as expressive, narrative-driven objects allowing their wearers to show personal aspects of themselves in a structured context.

I hope you find this interesting

Cheers

The Chanel brooch is the one that struck me. Maybe because it impresses without the bling. Or because I’ve tried to make something similar from fabric years ago but my spikes weren’t that good or because I immediately thought of a wire wrapped brooch, based on this design. I don’t know but I like the trend and thank you for this post.

    1. The Chanel brooch does remind me of a stocking flower or the Japanese liquid flower that seems so popular on Instagram.

I read that some fashion people were “over” men’s brooches, but I love them. I also love the variety of tuxes and the overall opulent look for men the brooches add to.

    1. No no…they are very much in and becoming more popular than before.
