Growing up, we had button rose bushes at home and for the weeks that they bloomed I would way them in my hair. Out of the blue, I was missing them this year and then it struck me that I could make rose earrings to wear whenever I wanted. Rummaging through my stash, I found small paper flowers from my bridal jewellery making days. Here are the two paper rose earrings I made and have enjoyed wearing ever since.

Paper Rose Earrings
The first pair captures a bohemian and rustic-chic vibe. I used a wooden laser cut teardrop base and wove vibrant pink embroidery thread throughout the open spaces, creating a rich texture. I glued bright pink paper roses as the focal point. They are accented by green glass crystal beads. While the ones near the rose are glued down, the teardrop bead dangling from the bottom is looped.

The earrings are bold yet super light weight for the size. The combination of the warm wood, bold pink thread, and crisp green crystals is absolutely eye-catching, I would say.

Posies or roses
I am not sure if the flowers used in the second pair are posies or flattened button roses. But they are the ones that sparked the idea for these floral earrings. I coloured two flowers in a reddish pink using water colours and sealed them. Once dry, I glued them to metal bezels. I added half pearls, some pollen beads and some rhinestones to the centre. This center adds a layer of sparkle and dimension that complements the deep colour of the petals. As the base was metal, I used metal studs instead of hooks. I then painted the peacock studs with a vibrant nail enamel for a glossy finish.

Both pairs are about paper roses, but each pair has a completely distinct aesthetic through different materials and design choices making them suitable for different outfits and occasions. I used both Gemini and ChatGPT to generate product and model images based on original photographs and they turned out great. What do you think?
I hope you find it interesting
Cheers
