Ribbon rose jewellery tutorial

Ribbon rose tutorial jewellery diy1

During a random Facebook scroll, I came across a tutorial video by B’sue Boutiques that showed how to make assemblage jewellery using shells. Run by Brenda Sue Lansdowne, B’sue boutiques offers  vintage style findings, stampings and embellishments. Fascinated by what I saw, I scanned through their Youtube channel and found several tutorials for lace and ribbon flower jewellery. While I did not watch the tutorials (other than the one on shell jewellery), I was inspired by the thumbnails to create my own ribbon rose jewellery.

Rummaging through my stash, I found a packet of pastel blue ribbon rose, some pearls, filigree bases, and rhinestone chain. I also found a pair of metal studs with missing rhinstones that I could alter. Using these materials, I created a pair of earrings and a pendant. Here is the tutorial on how to make some ribbon flower jewellery.

Ribbon rose jewellery tutorial – Method

To make a pair of ribbon rose earrings

  1. Trim corners and file the triangular filigree bases.
  2. Using jumprings attach the filigree to the ear studs.
  3. Alter the studs with Vintaj Patina ink. I used Verdigris to get the blue turquoise colour that I love and to create an analogous connect with the pastel blue flowers. You can also use nail paint to add colour to your studs to match the colour of the flowers that you are using. Since I was repurposing a pair of old earrings, I also replaced the missing rhinestones on one of the studs.
  4. Arrange the ribbon roses on the base and glue them down.
  5. Fill the remaining areas with pearl beads and rhinestone cup-chain bits.
  6. Clean up by removing any extra glue and let dry.

To create the pendant shown in the images, follow steps 4 to 6 and string it using chain, suitable beads or cords. Wear the pieces as a set or individually and enjoy.
