How great it would be to make something for yourself in five minutes that makes you look “Oh so Glam?” Pretty great, right? I have such a design tutorial for you today. Recently, I came across a trims sale and chanced upon mixed packets of large sequins for $1 approx each. I have always wanted sequins earrings and with light weight earrings one of the big trends of SS21, this was the right time to make some for myself. I made three earrings in three different colours and patterns. In this post I want to share a DIY tutorial to make sequins chandelier earrings. These are showy enough to brighten up your face for Zoom meetings and are light enough to wear all day. They are so versatile that I have worn them thrice in a week. I will share the other two of them in a future post.
DIY sequins chandelier earrings
I have used smooth solid red sequins of 2 different sizes for this design. However, you can use different colours or sizes depending upon the size of the connector and the availability of the sequins.
Materials
- 5-9 hole chandelier base – a pair
- 10mm red plastic sequins with single hole – 10
- 20mm red plastic sequins with single hole – 2
- 4mm Gold tone jump rings – 12
- 20g artisan wire to make hooks (or readymade ear hooks)
- Chain nose pliers (Round nose pliers and wire cutters to make your own ear hooks)
Method
- Open out all your jump rings using pliers. Doing it at one shot saves time.
- Add the 10mm sequins to the chandelier base starting at the centre hole and working your way towards the end.
- Add the 20mm sequins to the top hole.
- Attach an ear hook to the top hole to complete your pair of festive looking DIY sequins chandelier earrings.
DIY sequins Rose Ornament
Even before I made the earrings, I made a rose ornament with the large sequins. I really do love a sequins mix bag as there are different finishes of sequins in them. I used red matt, red dichroic and white holographic sequins to make this rose. The rose is currently an offering in an altar at home but it looks great as table decor. You can turn it into a brooch, a hairclip or use it as an ornament for your tree too. You can whip up the DIY sequins rose ornament in a few minutes in case you are looking for a last minute stocking stuffer. To make your rose, glue sequins at an angle to the base with a glue gun. To see step-by-step pictures check out the Rose Ornament tutorial that I posted on Instagram.
I hope that you enjoyed reading my DIY sequins chandelier earrings and rose ornament tutorials. Isn’t it quirky, boho and somehow chic at the same time? If you are reading this post and still looking to make last minute jewellery gits to yourself or for others, feel free to choose a pattern to recreate from the previously published jewellery tutorials on my blog. Most of the ideas suit beginner skill sets and can be completed in 10 minutes or less.
I send you lots of joy and good health as I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or simply Happy Holidays!!
