Hello folks, I hope you are all celebrating the Holiday season with a lot of joy. I love for Christmas. Bejewelled trees, plum cake, sparkling stars, Santa, and ofcourse Christmas goodies and gifts not to forget the spirit of kindness are what define Christmas for me. I usually decorate my mini tree and put up some handmade decorations and we eat cake and chocolates on Christmas.
Christmas goodies – Jewellery supplies haul
This year I was busy with end semester exams so my crafting plans went astray. My borrowed crafting supplies were also misplaced. But I was not disappointed. I had known for a while that I would be working really tight schedules and travelling even on Christmas Eve. Since I have been working really hard this year, I had planned a month back to get myself some Christmas goodies. Taking full advantage of my cousin’s trip from the US to India, I went on a supplies haul during the Black Friday sales. To see my haul, look below.
Even though I was exhausted on Christmas Eve, I got to see facades of multiple Churches lit up with star lights and LED balloons due to traffic jams. I came home to a very special gift that you’ll see below. I met my cousins for a family dinner and finally got my Christmas goodies making it a great holiday overall.
It’s a sticky situation
Ever since I ran out of my favourite Liquid fusion glue a few months back I have been looking for a replacement. I started my Thanksgiving week shopping looking for (stronger) glue recommendations for mixed media jewellery. E6000, Aleene’s Jewellery and Metal glue and Super new glue were those that were suggested. Given the fact that I have not had a lot of success with E6000 and I can get it in India if required, I opted to buy the other two. I finally got my hands on the Flitz polish as well. I hope that it can make my resin pieces really shine.
Colour and Gloss
Ranger ink had a jewellery supplies sale and I went mad buying patinas in different colours. Considering the fact that I only get combination packs of Patinas in India which are expensive and have colours that I do not want, this was great. I saved atleast $10 buying exactly what I need (or that is what I am telling myself!) I also had an Amazon card which I wanted to use. Hence, apart from the polish I also bought Swellegant metal coating in Brass. It is my first swellegant product and if it works well, I plan to get some patinas too.
Look Beads!
I can hear you guys asking, “Where are the beads that you bought, Divya?” They are here. I got a selection of Czech beads from Artbeads to remodel some old pieces that my mom has. I thought that I had ordered more and was a little disappointed on seeing the beads and some basic findings that I ordered.
But sometime back I had won a giveaway on Ann’s blog Beadlove. She sent me a generous supply of lovely beads as the present. So many Art beads to play with! Thank you so so much Ann 🙂 🙂 I really want the Art bead scene challenge to come back now for I want to show off my stash. Sorry about the bad pictures. The weather is playing spoilsport here.
Talking about gifts, the next is a big one.
Look what Santa Brought me
I reached home after a 15 hour journey on 24th night and was welcomed by a tightly wrapped parcel. Swathi of The Colour Chaos had earlier messaged me asking for my address so I knew that she was sending me a gift. But I did not expect a full-blown jewellery set that was meticulously wire wrapped. Isn’t it breathtaking? Swathi is a super talented artist and her Durga pendants are drool-worthy. Check out her Instagram page too.
Earlier this year, I also got another special gift – a sea glass wire wrapped necklace. It was a giveaway gift from my dear Rozantia of RozantiQ Jewelry that I wore to a friend’s wedding (see pic below). Read about her jewellery adventures at the Bairozan’s blog.
Now that I have two handcrafted greenstone necklaces, I feel that the universe telling me to buy (green) clothes to match them with? 😉
Thank you, Swati, Ann, and Rozantia for your generosity. Thank you to all the blog readers, commenters, appreciators (and critiques) on social media for your support. Have a great Holiday season.
