Recently I made a set 15 pairs of beaded earrings as an order. The last time I did an order like this was in 2009 – 2010. Though they are simple and wearable, they have art beads or special beads and interesting details that make them more special that the usual ones that come with necklaces as complimentary gifts. I will be showing a few of those Cocktail earrings here as a part of the monthly We’re all ears challenge.
What is your favorite drink of summer?
Well, my honest answer to this question is “clear room temperature water”. No lemon wedges, no sugar, no cucumber, no mint, no jeera, and no ice – just plain water. Infact it is my favourite drink all round the year and I cannot think of a better drink than it.While I love tea, like fruit juices and drinks like buttermilk and vinegar tea they all come second. Not to say that I do not enjoy an occasional glass of wine, a sip of whiskey or a margarita but these are few and far between. There can be nothing more divine that clear water (if possible from a spring or river) cooling your parched throat.

Cheers to July – We’re all ears – July 2018 – Challenge
Ironically, for someone who does not like ice, crystalline ice (clear crystals) was all I could think of while visualising water as earrings. Both the MOP charms as well as the crystals have specks of blue in them. I feel that it accents the dark gray of the loop fluid gunmetal ear wire.
While I do not indulge in cocktails/mocktails regularly, I love looking at them. The colours, textures (of the salt, ice cubes and the accents) and the shapes (glass, cocktail umbrellas) provide great inspiration.
Red cocktail earrings
My Red cocktail earrings are like the watermelon – strawberry mojito. They are refreshing in bright coral red. They are long yet light and and served garnished with antiqued pewter leaves. Their length and if I may say dangli(ness) makes them true cocktail earrings for a beach party.
Blue Margarita Earrings
The Margarita on the other is a cool, deceptive looking package that packs quite a punch. When I think of margaritas, the first thing that comes to my mind is salt and by extension salt packets. It is wonderful that a seemingly simple unassuming grainy substance is what makes food tasty. I have used rolls of coarse linen fabric tied into packet using soft wool. Initially I thought of colouring the stud to represent all the zesty things that go into the drink but then I like that it looks elegant in silver.
A Glass of Red
While I was writing this post, I realised that I have another pair of earrings that is perfect for the phrase – “I’ll have a glass of red”. There is a restaurant nearby that serves drinks (even water) in silver tone metal wine cups. You cannot really see the drink from outside but it makes you feel like royalty for sipping from a silver chalice
As the new semester begins next week, I am trying to find some quiet this weekend to get a handle on my long list of pending chores. I will in the meanwhile hop around and look at the other beautiful earrings inspired by summer drinks.
All earrings are sold.
I hope you found it interesting
Cheers

Beautiful earrings, Divya! Your water-inspired earrings are lovely – there’s definitely no drink that’s more satisfying than water. I like how in the rest of the earrings, the colors of the beads and the silver work so well together. The linen packets look so unique.
Thank you Anita. The water earrings were hardest to photograph. I noticed the silver connection while writing the post
I’m a fan of water too, but I do prefer ice in it! It’s my day-to-day drink, though I do have a couple of cups of coffee each morning. I think you did a fabulous job envisioning each of these as a beverage. The wine one in a silver chalice especially speaks to me (though I’m not really a wine drinker at all). There’s just something about that deep red-violet and the silver tone. Lovely!
Ever since I can remember I have fallen prey to nasty throat infections. So I was banned from eating/drinking anything that was cold. Slowly I developed a dislike to it…much like the sour grapes story.
Each of your earrings are wonderful representations of the beverages that inspired them. I admire you for actually liking room temp water, which is I’m sure the best thing to drink for keeping hydrated. I barely drink water and can only tolerate it when it’s ice cold.
Oh ya? I find it strange that people do not like water. But then water in America does taste weird. It must taste bland compared to other drinks there which are either bitter or has heaps of sugar in it.
I love all your earrings, especially the clear/MOP set. Really beautiful and can be dressed up or down. They would go with everything!
Thanks Ann, that was exactly my idea while making the pair. It would look great with a tshirt as well as with an evening dress

Oh, the whimsical Blue Margarita pair is so cool! Even though I like them all. Water would be so hard for me to interpret, really!
Thanks. After I wrote about water, I am thinking of several other ways in which I could interpret water. I might try it sometime
What an interesting inspiration for your earrings! My faves are the reds.
As for drinks, we’ve been addicted to fruit infused water. I have been drinking a lot of cranberry tea with a sprinkle of ginger and mint leaves (this is actually an all year round drink), my drug – black coffee which I cannot leave not even for a day and as of late – the white wine spritz I recently shared the recipe for on my blog. The perfect end to a summer’s night!
Cranberry tea with ginger sounds very interesting. I have never tasted it before, I am googling it right away. Yes, I saw the white wine recipe on your blog. It sure sounds like a great drink
