DIY Azuli earrings

Azuli earrings

I  think that every girl must have something (okay, lots of things!) that are pretty in her wardrobe and I decided that I must have something pretty too this festive season. I have been craving sea glass and recycled translucent glass for a while now as we dont get it in India and so  when I saw them on Auntie’s beads I literally jumped up and grabbed them. I got a strand each in light and mid tone blue but decided to use the royal blue ones first to make earrings for myself, as they look, well Royal! I wore them last week for a Golu visit and got a lot of compliments, so I am sharing the DIY for the Azuli earrings with you, so you could make yourself some pretties too.

This DIY like most others of mine, is very simple and can be done in a couple of minutes times – yes I do like instant gratification and am not afraid to admit it 😛
Jokes aside, I think the biggest part in making something pretty is to choose the right components. For these Azuli Earrings (Azul means blue) I have used an ornate looking gold plated brass stud to compliment the gorgeous blue colors of the beads. Here is the step-by-step

DIY Azuli earrings

Materials
Recycled glass free form flat beads (sapphire) – 2
– Sand finish gold plated brass teardrop studs – 2
20g gold color  dead soft artistic wire
– Nose pliers
– wire Cutter

Method:
1. Cut about four inches of wire (I just winged it) and make a closed messy spiral at one end*.
2. Slide on a bead, make a loop and connect it to the stud base.
3. Simply wrap the left over wire 3-4 times before trimming and hiding hte wire end inside the wrap so that it doesnt prick
4. Fold the spiral over on to the bead so that it looks decorative.
Repeat to make a pair. Ta Da! Your own pair of Gorgeous Azuli Earrings are ready to be worn. Here are some pintastic pictures for you to keep note of this DIY

How to make a closed messy spiral:

Use you pliers to make a small loop at one end of the wire, then with your hands or a nylon jaw pliers, slowly turn it in a couple of times so that it looks like a spiral. When you are happy with the size, just compress it a bit, so that it looks more organic than perfect. Please take care that you dont press it too much as it will look more like a pyramid than a spiral.

I loved making and wearing these earrings, I hope you would do too. Because recycled glass is light, it lends itself very well to large statement earrings, but they must be stored carefully as they are fragile.

Disclosure: I received the beads from Auntie’s beads, but the views expressed here are my own and I have not been compensated monetarily for them

I hope you find it interesting
