Recently one of my clients and a Sayuri Loyal came to me for some tips in taking care of my mixed media jewelry. As started talking to her, (she had many more queries) I realised that lot of my customers might have the same doubts or questions with regards to jewelry care and created these PSAs and posted them on my Facebook page. I then got a few requests to post them on my blog so that they can be pinned for future reference.
Jewelry care tips
TIP #1: Always let your jewelry air dry for sometime before storing them and wipe gently with a dry tissue or cotton cloth is required. I will recommend wet wipes as they may spoil leather, metal or mixed media jewelry.

TIP #3: Wear your jewelry last after putting on perfumes and lotions and after they have been absorbed by your skin. The chemicals in the cosmetics hasten jewelry discolorations

Choosing shanks for rings – Pick wire wrapped or soldered ones for everyday wear. They could be fixed size or adjustable. But reserve glued on ones only for occasional wear.

TIP #5: I recommend storing leather or even fabric leather separately away from metal jewelry

TIP #6: This one is particularly for Indians who hate to see their silver dull. Get your silver jewelry glazed or sealed to keep then shiny for a longer period

I hope you would find these tips helpful. I will be posting another such tip series soon. If you have any jewelry care related queries please email me/post in comments and I’ll try and answer your questions in this segment.
Cheers

Great post! I didn't know silver could be sealed – that's a good one!
Any Metal can be sealed or glazed but the effect depends upon the usuage, handling and climate
