Inspiration – isnt it something that all of us want, atleast he creative ones? we travel, go for nature walks, looks at art created by various artists and designers, search google, leaf through pinterest – in an attempt to find that spark that will help guide us in creating something spectacular, something thats uniquely ours.In that process we consciously or unconsciously borrow some elements from our inspirations and use it in our work as a way of giving praise or acknowledging the greatness of that inspiration. Yes there is a fine line dividing inspiration and copying or plagiarism and only a few can attempt doing it well
At a design, music & art fest conducted recently at Puducherry, by Inklink, I saw this beautiful canvas and was wickedly attracted to it. From a distance I could understand that it was a mixed media art – with the wings being a saree. Even though it had impressionist motifs, particularly Van gogh’s sunflowers, it had a very surreal feeling
On closer study, I realised that a butterfly was trying to gather the essence of the sunflowers and translate it into its consciousness. I had then the opportunity to meet the artist, Mr. Anand who confirmed my assumptions. He said – “I am self taught artist and a great fan of works of eternal artists like Van Gogh, Raja Ravi Verma and Da Vinci. I mix mediums and combine vivid imagination with realism to create one of kind paintings in my own style. This particular painting is my ode to Van Gogh – I am his student here, a common butterfly, looking at his works and trying to learn from them. Studying his work enriches my imagination and technique and that is what I have portrayed here.” Fascinating right, Mr. Anand, can be contact through his website. You can directly buy his paintings through the site or contact him to commission a fascinating work or mixed media of your choice Details about this photograph
