Now for today’s Feature… we are meeting Neha Jain from Steps Towards Crafting
Hi Neha, Tell us something about you, yours likes and your interests
Hi…This is Neha from Steps Towards Crafting…Born and brought up in Delhi….I am a post graduate in field of IT and working as a software professional in Gurgaon. CRAFTING…is my heart beat – my lifeline.
What is that you like to create?
I am basically a paper crafter. I create using paper…Quilling is the art that fascinates me the most.
Your Quilled cards are fabulous. What or who inspires you to create? Any Rolemodels?
From the past one year since I consciously started crafting till now most of my inspirations have come from bloggers….but the one who most inspires me is Rajni Di…I  had met her on facebook and now she has become my role model…she is very creative and helpful..I must say for me she is my angel…another person I admire is Aditya Gupta from Imaginationsonline store – he was one who helped me most when i was new to crafting world..i bugged him a lot by my queries and he answered me always

You make such beautiful cards, do you sell them?
yes..I do sell my creations…most of the orders I get are from office colleagues who came to know about my art after I exhibited in my office in Dec. 2011…and then I have registered as a seller on itshandmade as well..
As a designer I have made mistakes, I still do and attempt learning from them. What about you?

Mistakes…hmm..well frankly speaking…because I had met Aditya..I never did any mistake coz he was always there to guide me. But I have learnt to recycle and use alternatives. Also don’t always run behind imported products…i do use imported products but I try to use Indian products more..

So What’s next?

Well I want to start as an entrepreneur…want to start a big business of handmade cards…people today if given choice to buy a nominal rate handmade card and a branded printed card they  prefer to buy printed cards which are damn expensive w.r.t. work and cost of them..i want to tell those people to promote handicraft…pay an artist what they deserve..don’t just run behind branded cards and make the company get a big profit

 * And Amen to that!! If more people promote local artisans and Crafters most crafts would survive for long. Thanks Neha for joining us today and we wish you great luck in your business. Lets go check out her blog now…

Cheers
