Rose Trim cuff Tutorial

The idea for this cuff came from Hannah of Rubies and pearls who had made a bracelet using a rose trim. I saw loads of things like this bracelet while participating in the Creativity expo (as one of the trims was a rose trim ribbon). The simplicity of Hannah’s explanation, made me want to do it immediately but I didnt have the ribbon ends she had mentioned in her post and didnt know where to get them locally. So I improvised and thought of using leather to create my holder and base.

So If you are shying away from projects that have a ribbon end finding because you dont have one, here is a good technique that you can use.

– Rose trim (your wrist measurement – 1/2″)

– Leather/pleather for backing (1″X wrist measurement)

– 2 eye pins

– jump ring + clasp

– scissor + glue

– pliers + wire cutter

1) Fold the side of the rose trim to get a neat egde and glue it to the back. Use a clear glue for this

2) Leaving quater inch allowance of each egde glue the lace to the wrong side of the leather/pleather backing, so that the right side faces the skin while wearing the cuff

3) poke a hole in the extra quater inch and put a eye pin through it

4) make the extra eye pin into a loop on the other side. Cut the excess wire and insert the loop back into the hole for a clean finish

5) Glue the extra leather with the eye pin firmly to the lace and press firmly.

6) repeat on the other side and let it dry completely for 5 minutes (The drying time depends upon the glue used, so check for instructions on your glue tube)

 7) add jump rings, hook/clasp as per your wish to the eye pins (word of caution here: Open only the jump ring or clasp round and do not open the closed eye pin)

8) Its done!!!! wear and enjoy

I understand its a slightly longer process than adding a ribbon end but its also really cheap. I spent nothing on it as I already had all the supplies with me…You can also use the same technique to make earrings, necklaces and lots of other things
