Color palette – Construction chaos

Construction Chaos

Last May, I embarked on a self set journey to post 12 twelve, each for a month, an entire year. However I just realised that had forgotten to post the last the 12th palette that was meant for April. Maybe this is sign, that I should continue posting palettes?? maybe!
As they say – it is better late than never; so here is the Palette that concludes the first season of every color has a story.

Every color has a storyย  – Construction Chaos

These days, Cities all over the world are fast expanding with construction going on everywhere and Chennai, where I live is no exception. Airy Courtyards seem almost non existent and even getting sunlight into the apartments is a tough job as windows inadvertently open into the neighbour’s wall.
I live in what used to be an agraharam (lanes surrounding a big temple) so the houses to begin with are street houses that share compound walls. Now these houses are being converted into 2-3 storeyed apartments so there is constant noise, dust and dark shadows not to mention the really really horrible heat and sticky humidity.
But even the bleakest of scenarios can provide inspiration to an artist – in this case to someone who is looking for some Urban inspiration

The picture is of a half finished building with cement and sand bags. The orange sheet is a tarpaulin sheet used to cover cement bags. The palette includes cement, pale browns and is great color palette for summer – a good dose of cooling blues and grays with a hint of tangerine to spice up things.
You can use materials like wooden beads, lampwork beads, ceramic focals to create jewelry based on this palette.
For Inspiration, I bring you a wooden and glass bead necklace I made in 2009 and the recent “What’s the point” necklace. These are the only two designs I have ever made in this color palette. Yup, I was joking when I said that I was hard for me to combine oranges, browns and grays with blue in my bead soup post. Also notice the handpainted wooden bead in both designs? Yup I have been hoarding it since then ๐Ÿ˜€

Now I realise that this is great palette to work on and you’ll be seeing more designs in it in the coming seasons.

You can find the previous color palettes here. All palettes are free to use as inspiration for personal or commercial work with full credit. But avoid using them in your portfolios.
Do write to me in your comments, if you would like me to continue with this series
I hope you find it interesting
Cheers
