Quilled Bridal comb DIY

Quilled Bridal comb
Surfing through numerous pages of handmade artists on Facebbok, I came across Kirti’s creations which had fabulous quilling tutorials. I wrote to her, asking if she would be interested in sharing one of her tutorials with us and is she thus here to share with all of us, how she made this fabulous Quilled Bridal Hairclip with matching pins. In gorgeous blues and white, it will definitely add charm and glamour to any updo. Off to Kirti for the tutorial.

Hi, I am Kirti and I am so glad to be here. I run hobby classes and summer camps and exhibit my work at shows. I have been quilling for the past 7 years and I’m totally in love with it. I started making online tutorials on request and now it has become my routine to create easy DIY designs for beginners. Do check out my facebook page Kirti’s Creations for tutorials of beautiful quilled jewelry and accessories. Today I have for you, a really pretty Quilled Bridal Hairclip with matching pins.

Quilled Bridal comb with matching pins

Materials

 1) Quilling strips size 3mm – 9 white strips, 13 sea blue strips, 6 sea green strips, 6 navy blue
strips

2) 4 white pearls
3) 2 silver color
jewelry wires, size 5-6cm
4) 1 hair accessory
comb
5) 2 hair U pins
6) Glue and scissors
7)  Mod podge or Varnish spray

Method

1) Take a strip and wrap it around the needle to make spirals- shape (A). Use spirals made from 12 sea blue strips, 6 sea green strips, 2 navy blue strips and press them in the middle to create petals or eyes – shape (B)

2) Use your fingers to make the petal (C) as shown in the pic.

 3) Give curve to the petal (D) now stick the different color petals together as shown in the picture.
4) Make flower using shape (A)

5) Use glue to stick flower and petals on hair comb.

6) – 7) Optional – Put silver wire in the pearl and twist the wire to lock it properly. Insert it in the clip. You can skip if you don’t want pearl in your hair comb.

8) Side hairpins –  To the remaining “u pieces” created in step 3 add a U pin. Glue if required

To seal it use varnish picture spray, this spray will increase the life of accessory and give it a glossy look. You could used coats of mod podge too for a matt finish. Let your hair clip and pins dry completely before wearing them
