Pic of the month – Praying to Buddha

This year is finally drawing to a close and what a wonderful year it has been. Both Personally & professional I have seen a lot of ups and downs and as you are reading this post, I will be still working hard for my big finish this year.
I love December for many reasons – Christmas for one! My parents let me celebrate Christmas as a child (even though we are Hindus) for I believed in the sanctity of the festival and it somehow brought me all the satisfaction and calm that was needed in my life. Secondly I believe that December gives us all one last chance to rectify the faults that we made in that year, to introspect, to show gratitude, to cherish all the happy moments, to let go of painful moments, to spend time with family and one more opportunity to strive to meet the intended personal goal for the year.
I cannot however talk of introspection and self analysis without thinking of Buddha. So for this month’s Pic of the month (being posted a little early than usual) – I have chosen a photograph of Buddha that I clicked in 2008
Titled – Praying to Buddha
Location -Colombo, Sri Lanka
Camera – Sony Erickson camera phone
Type – Mural Photography
I clicked this picture in a temple in Colombo that was undergoing some restoration. This is a normal part of one wall of the temples’s shrine. The Temple housed more beautiful paintings – depicting stories from Buddha’s life, many murals and life like sculptures, one reclining Buddha worth mentioning.

I used to love that  camera phone and many pics that I clicked with it got published in magazines. However during this Sri Lanka trip,  I had accidentally left a bottle of water open in my bag and soon my entire bag was filled with water. Thankfully my passport was in a ziplock but everything else, esp my phone was floating and I spent the three hour ride from Kandy to Colombo in the middle of the night drying it. My phone eventually died a slow  death but not before helping me take a lot more wonderful pictures and I am truly grateful o that phone.

So Here’s to the celebration that 2012 has been!! May Buddha give us the Serenity to accept and understand life.
I hope you found it interesting
Cheers
