Chithiram, the journey part 2

Part two of my fascinating Chithiram journey..Contd from part 1…
If you have been reading the part 1 of the Chithiram journey, you might remember the confusion that I mentioned regarding the location. Thankfully it was in the same store but in the clothing section which didnt have any shelves for display…I really panicked..6 hours for my flight and I started making neck forms and silhouette cut outs from cardboard. Thankfully the pictures I had amassed in pinterest were available as reference and it did speed up the process. I rushed to airport only to find my flight was a hour late.  By the time I landed in Trivandrum I was so exhausted..the room was beautiful but I was too tired to enjoy it. The next day I reach the beautiful store sarwaa, pick out knick knacks for the display and clear out the clothing section only to realise there are no tables to display. As it was Ramzan (holiday) nobody was willing to lend us tables and it would be evening by the time, a friend could lend some.

By 11 AM it was a big mess as the customers had already started coming at and all my stuff was lying on the ground, The Previous day, The Store owner had given an ad and a write up/interview had come about me in The Hindu paper talking about the shoot and the exhibition at 1PM that day, but people were there early to catch a glimpse before the crowd arrived. So we made a last minute decision and shifted everything downstairs to the area with shelves and blindly put up stuff..Fortunately the response was good and people were willing to book the pieces and take them after the shoot..(Hurray!!!) In the evening when the tables arrived we lunged up everything and set up for the shoot. Let alone beautiful…it looked less than average but we were so tired that as enough we left for the night.:(
Finally the D-Day arrived. I used all my Golu displaying skills and created an interesting setup for the shoot that was at 12.
By 1pm the crew arrived and they decided to change the display. After a lot of trial and error they decided that there wasnt much they could do, so we just changed the table covers and did the same setup once again. I was really really tensed for my flight back home was at 9PM and it was already 3PM.I had to shoot, pack sold pieces for the customers, tally accounts, travel for 35 minutes to my hotel, pack and leave. Finally we started shooting at 5.30PM.
Inspite of multiple retakes because of hair flying/falling over the face, sometimes for host, sometimes for me..the shoot went on well. I would have never thought there would be a day when I would spray hair spray on my hair, for its usually thin and limp 😛
It was 7.15 PM we wrapped up and I was so tensed for I only had 1 hour, to reach my check in counter at the airport. Nobody would have packed jewelry like I did, I gathered all the pieces dumped them in box and left…I left a couple of things, took back what I should have left there..it was a big big mess…:O

Also there was no vehicle to go to the hotel so a friend was kind enough to take me. We drove really really fast, dumped stuff from my hotel into the suitcase, broke some stuff in the process and finally reached the airport 7 minutes late..I was running inside, the guards stopped me, I pleaded with them but they were taking their own sweet time to check my ticket, talking to me calmly. Only after a couple of minutes I understood that they where trying to tell me about the flight being 45 minutes late…It was an OMG moment!!
I was so happy and relieved that my million prayers where answered. That day I vowed not to curse or crib whenever a flight or train is late..maybe God is holding it back for someone else!!
So finally I came back, wrapped up in newspaper (it was cold in the flight and I had left my shawl in the bag at check in :P) exhausted but happy and really satisfied…I had a good sale, I met a lot of interesting people, stayed at a beautiful place, got a good publicity due to the Hindu interview and yes got to feature in OH MY GOLD !!
It was tough no doubt but the whole process was fascinating…

Cheers
