I have done a lot of chain based earrings (tutorials) in the past and they have all been quite appreciated. So here’s another one of them. This time around I am combining chain with another one of my favourite jewelry making components – MOP buttons. These buttons are from the website Lots of Buttons and indeed there are lottttssss of buttons in the site to choose from.
I have used turquoise shell green and a natural black for this earring. Its a very pleasant color combo and goes great with both formal as well as casual wear. So without much ado, lets make it
Materials Required
– Shell buttons – Sharie – green (4 nos.)
– Shell buttons – Felisha– black (4 nos.)
– Chain
– Jumprings (10)
– 1 pair Ear hook
Method:
1) Cut a length of chain into eight pieces – 2 each pieces of lengths 0.5″, 1″, 1.75″ and finally 2.5″. You can increase or decrease the chain length depending on the earring length preference
2) -3) open each jump ring and add to it a button
It is faster if you attach all 8 buttons to the rings now. Dont close them!!
4) Attach each button ring to a piece of chain and close
5) Now its time to figure out how you want to arrange them. I chose to have them in descending height order as I had put the buttons alternatively – green, black, green, black
6) Put all the chain in another jump ring, add a ear hook and close..
Viola!! your earring is done. Since you have been doing both the pieces simultaneously, the pair will be done by now..wear and enjoy!!
If you want to make neck grazer earrings or simply want longer earrings then, increase the chain length. Also do not forget to add more levels of buttons ( a couple more should do) to make them more balanced
